Family visits, vacation in Florida, new kitty in the house, etc. I've been in a stitching hiatus but I always come back to this lovely hobby.<br />
<br />
Since my last update on here I've done a little bit of work. I have also put Starry Starry Night on hold, as I'm not too happy with how it's turning out as far as coverage and bulkiness go. I might have to restart it at some point, so away it goes until I decide to continue with it or scrap it and start over.<br />
<br />
The Freebie SAL from HAED ends on December 1st, so this week I've been trying to finish my QS Lovers. I have page 3 done and hope to have the last page stitched up by Friday.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Krystal has almost a second page done. Maybe I can get up to page 3 done by the end of the year. Fingers crossed!<br />

<br />
The cupcakes are all finished. I just need to add a few beads and am still debating on framing it or turning it into a cushion.<br />

Unbelievable! I haven't stitched since June, but I'm now getting back to it by picking up this one that I haven't stitched on since February. I did a little progress and baring some details, the top half of it is now completed.</div>

We received page 2 for this SAL back in April, and I've been working on page 2 of this every other weekend, and now I got his face completed, and have stared work on his hair, and thought I'm far enough on page 2 to share some progress! I've now decided to stick with this project until the page is finished, then I can work on my other projects until we get sent the 3rd page in July.</div>

I was supposed to move next week and that's not happening, I had my parents come over for a visit a few weeks ago, and with being busy and the sad news about the move, I had lost my mojo. It's back though, so I've been stitching away.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Not much to show as I just got back to my rotations but I did get the Bird SAL cushion that my mother put together for me, and started work on something for my mother-in-law, who loves pastry. It's from Cross Stitch Gold 63, Cupcake. I got 3 done and 6 to go.</div><br />

I'm really enjoying this SAL. The way that HAED charts seem to make no sense at first, and all of a sudden the image appears on the pages, without any use of back stitching or quarter stitches, I think that's what makes people fall in love with stitching these HAEDs.</div><br />

It did take me a while to complete this one as I mostly stitched this on weekends, but I enjoyed it so very much I was looking forward to each weekend, to get away from Van Gogh's endless confetti.</div><br />

I'm using the same idea I used on Misaki, going with a bigger fabric, less back stitching, to make it have a more tapestry feel and again will be adding 30 stitches to the width of her so they're both the same size.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

I had planned on doing them as a tapestry, using wool and going really big with it, but simplifying the pattern, but I scraped that idea. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">What I decided to do instead, was making it bigger and simpler while staying with the Anchor colors listed in the chart. So I went with white Aida 11 ct, and stitched it without the 1/4 stitches, and ignored most of the back stitching. I also added 30 stitches to the width of the project, to fit the frame size I wanted. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Misaki is the first of the two Geishas, and I worked on her on and off from February 2010 to . Here's her progress over time.<br />

In that process I had to spend a month in my brother's house, in preparation for the interview that would take place in Rio de Janeiro (at that point in time I was living in my parent's farm in the Amazon). During that month I decided to stitch this series of cute pigs. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/ladyletal/042.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/ladyletal/042.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I did the trio with the fence in a matter of days, but the other two ended up being a project for after I got married. I finished the watermelon pigs last (about 2 years ago) and now they're all sharing wall space.</div>Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14974075292170631924noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3095033363572225142.post-37668810879265454152010-01-14T19:19:00.000-08:002012-02-05T20:55:59.813-08:00My return to Cross Stitch<div style="text-align: justify;">In 2006 I was visiting my grandmother, and as she lives in a small town there wasn't much to do. I was bit bored and ended up finding an old Italian Magazine (Suzana, 1993) with a beautiful dining room sampler pattern, and as I had just gotten engaged I decided I'd stitch it for my future house. I hadn't stitched in 10 years but that same day I went out and got the fabric, floss, needles, scissors and started work on it. So this is what brought me back to stitching, and I proudly have it hanging on my dining room wall.<br />
